Apply now for the Citizens Alliance for Public Safety (CAPS), a newly forming volunteer group to support the Cripple Creek Police Department. Applications will be accepted starting June 15, 2022. Are you a community-minded individual who would like to contribute and give back to your community? If yes, read on. Teller Rifles is pleased to promote a new volunteer citizen task force within the Cripple Creek Police Department. The CCPD is looking for a few good men and women to support the agency in various roles. Citizens are being called upon to serve voluntarily to help the Police Department serve and protect local residents. Volunteers who are accepted into this group will support different functions within the police department. These functions include, but are not limited to: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT – support the communications unit answering non-emergency phone calls, greeting citizens at the front window. This position is typically an indoor, office environment and consists of clerical type duties. PATROL SUPPORT – support the patrol unit with multiple aspects of proactive patrol opportunities consisting of performing visual house and business checks. This role will also observe and log code enforcement issues such as the accumulation of refuse and inoperable vehicles. This role may also include providing traffic control during special events and major incidents. Assisting with the care and maintenance of the canines impounded at the city of Cripple Creek Animal Shelter. INVESTIGATION SUPPORT – support the investigation unit with administrative duties. The police department will begin accepting volunteer applications June 15, 2022.
